According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, “Nuggets F Michael Porter Jr., will undergo a surgical procedure on his lower back and miss an indefinite period”
The surgery, which will happen on Wednesday, December 1st, could cost Porter Jr the rest of the season, according to Shams Charania of The Atheltic.

Porter Jr played in just nine games this season and was underwhelming in every one of them. He failed to average 10 points per game and shot 35.9% from the field. Additionally, Porter Jr., once a three-point threat, only made 20.8% of his shots from beyond the arc this season, a career-low.
This is a huge blow to the already injury-riddled Nuggets. They are currently without point guard Jamal Murray due to his ongoing recovery from an ACL tear, and Nikola Jokic due to wrist problems.
However, this season was an improvement for Porter Jr on the defensive end in which he recorded a steal in all games but one. He averaged 0.7 last season, and 0.5 the season before.
